Sunday School Superintendents: Sheila Daley & Alison Nelson
Thanks to the completion of the renovation project, we now have three
fine classrooms upstairs as well as the downstairs spaces.

If you would like to help with
Sunday School as a teacher, aide or with the children’s library, or with
special events, please contact Sheila Daley or Alison Nelson. Extra
help is always appreciated and no one is expected to teach every Sunday.
Those in
7th and 8th Grades will
have one class (on the third Sunday of each month) and several opportunities to
serve in other ways on the other Sundays of each month, as ushers, greeters,
lectors, acolytes, coffee hour assistants, Sunday School or Nursery aides, or
simply worshipping in the church. Adult
“coaches” will serve in rotation to help with the Third Sunday classes and
to supervise on other Sundays as needed; see Alison Nelson or Sheila Daley.
DEDICATION OF THE RENOVATION WAS SEPTEMBER
24, 2006!
After
many, many hours of hard and skilled work, we completed “Habitat for St.
Barnabas” in late Spring, with a new ceiling and lighting system in the
Fellowship Room, and three completely new rooms upstairs where the old sanctuary
was. All three rooms will be used
as classrooms on Sunday mornings for our Sunday School, and the room furthest
away from the office will also serve as a quiet Prayer Room, and as the
headquarters for the parish library (parts of which will also be on rolling
racks in classrooms on each floor). The
Parish Office and Fr. Hubbard’s office received their first new carpeting in
decades, and new office furniture as well.
We dedicated the
renovations as the finale of the 10:30 service on Sunday September 24, including
giving thanks for the 20 parishioners who helped out, without whom this project
(literally) could not have been attempted. (No way could we have afforded to
have all the work done by contractors.) We
give special thanks to Paul Pospiech (Project Coordinator) and to Gene
Sanfilippo. We also give thanks for
all whose financial generosity has made and is making it possible to have these
beautiful spaces. (We have a loan
from our Diocese of New Jersey we continue to pay off.)
