Community Unity Day: We have a table at the annual Community Unity Day in South Brunswick in which we introduce ourselves to the local community. This event is a great way for St. Barnabas to participate in the community, and for the community to become more aware of St. Barnabas. St. Barnabas had a great evening at South Brunswick’s National Night Out/Community Unity Day held on August 7th. Our booth featured a bean bag toss and an interactive globe game, with more than 100 kids receiving prizes! Invitations were handed out for community members to join us for worship and our “Sundae Sunday” as we celebrated our new (almost done!) kitchen. Attendees also stopped by and picked up a balloon attached to a chip clip. The International Food Festival was highlighted with a trifold poster board, and many participated in a raffle for 2 free tickets to attend the IFF. Valerie chose the lucky winner, who was excited to receive the tickets.
Mitten Tree: Each year during Advent, the mittens harvested from our “mitten tree” are donated to those in need.
Men’s Homeless Shelter: Each winter, we help with the overflow of the Ozanam Homeless Shelter, donating our time and “goodie bags” to the men we serve. In 2018/2019, we served from Dec 16-22, 2018 and Jan 6-12, 2019.
